Well the Indian Premier League 2021 has ended, but the cricket carnival doesn’t stop here as the T20 World Cup will be flagged green flag today with the Round 1 matches kicking off.

The Round 1 (which begins from 17th October) involves 8 teams in the tournament, divided into the 2 groups of 4. And at the end of the Round 1, 2 teams from each group will make it to the Round 2, which is the Super 12 round (which begins from 23rd October) and teams like India, Australia, England, West Indies and more enter the competition here.

Well, the cricket carnival require some of the best commentators in the World. And the ICC (International Cricket Council), the governing body of cricket around the world, has done nothing less to bring in the best from around the world.

The commentary panel will see the current defending champion’s West Indies’ former captain Darren Sammy join the panel. It was under his leadership in 2016 that West Indies lifted the T20 World Cup in India.

Former South African quick bowler Dale Steyn is also part of the panel. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket few months earlier and will now be in commentary duties in the T20 World Cup.

The Indian contingent contains of veteran Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Murali Kartik and the voice of Indian cricket Harsha Bhogle. Anjum Chopra is female commentator in the panel from India, she will be joined by South African Natalie Germanos as the other female in the panel.

Ian Bishop from West Indies, Russell Arnold from Sri Lanka, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Alan Wilkins and Mark Nicholas will be representing the panel from the inventors of the game, England.

Scottish Preston Mommsen and Bangladesh’s Athar Ali Khan are the only representative from their country. Bazid Khan comes in from Pakistan. Former Zimbabwe international, Pommie Mbangwa, who is one of popular commentator in the world, has also been roped in.
