Now both the teams are set to face each other once again at the same venue after 12 years in a World Cup match.

    The Indian cricket team under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma will be taking on Kusal Mendis lead Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both the teams have through different run of form in the tournament. While the Indian team is currently at the top of the points table with 6 wins in 6 matches, Sri Lanka finds themselves at the 7th position in the points table with only 2 wins from their 6 matches.

    Yuvraj Singh who was the hero of India winning the World up in 2011, is currently away from any kind of cricket after officially retiring from the game. Suresh Raina who did not the get opportunity to bat on that night, also announced his international retirement on the same day as MS Dhoni. He also recently retired from the IPL as well.

    In terms of India’s bowling on that final, all of them has retired. Munaf Patel retired a long back and has kept himself away from any kinds of cricket. Meanwhile, Sreesanth recently returned to playing after serving a fixing ban and occasionally plays in domestic circuit. Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan have also retired, while both of them are currently doing commentary work, Zaheer Khan is working with the Mumbai Indians franchise as Global Head of Cricket Development.
