    Asia Cup 2012 will always have a special place in the hearts of the Indian cricket fans. Although India did not win the tournament, Sachin Tendulkar recorded his 100th international century during that tournament. Virat Kohli smashed an incredible 183 against Pakistan in a record run-chase.

    11 years have passed since that mega event. Only four teams, namely, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played in Asia Cup 2012. Here’s a look at the Indian squad that participated in that tournament, and where those players are now.

    Batters – MS Dhoni (c), Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and Manoj Tiwary

    MS Dhoni captained the side. Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina and Sachin Tendulkar continued from the squad that won the 2011 World Cup. Manoj Tiwary and Rohit Sharma tried to cement their place in the Indian team.

    Dhoni, Tendulkar, Gambhir and Raina have retired now. Dhoni still plays in IPL, while Tendulkar is the icon of Mumbai Indians. Gambhir is a politician, commentator and mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, whereas Raina works as a commentator and plays in other T20 leagues. Tiwary recently took a U-turn on retirement from cricket besides joining politics, whereas Kohli and Sharma are the top batters of India.

    All Rounders of India in Asia Cup 2012 – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan

    The Pathan brothers were a part of the squad in 2012 along with spin-bowling all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Both Irfan and Yusuf have retired. They work as commentators and play in other T20 leagues. Ashwin continues to be a match-winner for India in Tests, while Jadeja is India’s best all-format all-rounder.

    Bowlers – Ashok Dinda, Praveen Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Vinay Kumar

    All four bowlers of India’s Asia Cup 2012 squad have retired now. Ashok Dinda led the pace attack featuring Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar. Rahul Sharma was present in the squad as a leg-spinner.
