It was an easy win for Rohit Sharma and his men in the first warm-up fixture. Here, we take a look at India’s likely playing XI for the 2024 T20 WC based on the warm-up game against Bangladesh.
The management tried out a few new things and also got to know about the form of some players. Hence, they could base their playing XI accordingly for the initial matches.
Openers: Rohit Sharma (C) and Virat Kohli
Yashasvi Jaiswal may not feature in India’s likely playing XI for the 2024 T20 WC based on the warm-up game against Bangladesh. The youngster did not even bat against Bangladesh. Hence, it is clear that Rohit and Virat will open the batting for Team India. It will make the middle-order more flexible.
Middle-Order in India’s likely playing XI: Rishabh Pant (WK) and Suryakumar Yadav
At No.3 & No.4, Pant & SKY will form the core of the middle-order. Pant’s form at No.3 was refreshing to see. SKY, as usual, is the most important batter in this side. Both these players can play spin well and that is one of the advantages of having them together.
All-Rounders: Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja
It will be a strong all-rounder’s unit in India‘s likely playing XI for the 2024 T20 WC based on the warm-up game against Bangladesh. Shivam Dube might not have delivered with the bat but he collected two wickets with the ball. The fact that he was given bowling suggests that he is being considered in the squad. Pandya and Jaddu will play as the finishers and all-rounders.
Bowlers in India’s likely playing XI: Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh
Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin attack for India. India might go in with three pacers for the first game. If they require a change in combination or even batting depth, Axar Patel could come in for either Siraj or Arshdeep. Hence, Siraj and Arshdeep will be keen to maintain their form in the initial games so that they have a spot in the playing XI.
