Openers for India against Afghanistan – Rohit Sharma (c) and Yashasvi Jaiswal
The left hand-right hand pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma should open the batting for India in the opening T20I match. Sharma is the captain and best Indian T20I opener of all time, while southpaw Jaiswal has been fantastic in the shortest format of the game.
Middle Order – Virat Kohli, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel
Virat Kohli returns to the Indian T20I team, and he should bat at the number three position. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson can bat at number four, followed by hard-hitting batters Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube.
Spin-bowling all-rounders Washington Sundar and Axar Patel will provide some much-needed balance to the playing XI. Sundar can be the lead off-spinner, while Axar will be the lead left-arm spinner.
Bowlers – Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar
The first T20I will happen in Mohali. Hence, India should try to have three fast bowlers in the playing XI. Arshdeep Singh, who plays for Punjab Kings in IPL, can be the lead pacer. The other two pacers in the squad, namely Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar will support him.
