“It is a strange feeling that I am an overseas player for Pakistan”- Imran Tahir shares experience of playing in PSL

South African cricket team’s leg-spin bowler Imran Tahir has shared his experience of playing in the Pakistan Super League. The veteran player is currently representing the Multan Sultans in the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League. He started off well in the competition as he bagged a three-wicket haul against Babar Azam’s Karachi Kings and helped the Sultans get off to a winning start.

Tahir recently took part in an interview with Geo News, where he expressed his feelings of playing as an overseas player in a tournament that is happening in the country of his birth. In case you didn’t know, Tahir was born in Pakistan and even played for the country at the U-19 level before switching to South Africa.

Since he plays international cricket at the senior level for South Africa, Tahir is considered as a foreign player in the Pakistan Super League. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“It is a strange feeling that I am an overseas player for Pakistan where I was born and even played my initial cricket, but I am also thankful to South Africa that they gave me a chance to reach my dreams and prove myself in international cricket.”

Imran Tahir thinks he is fit enough to play in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup tournament

Imran Tahir further commented that he has not retired from international cricket yet. If given a chance, he is ready to play for the South African cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Down Under.

The South African cricket team currently relies on the trio of Tabraiz Shamsi, Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram in the spin-bowling department. It will be interesting to see if Tahir gets an opportunity to don the Green and Gold jersey at the upcoming mega event.
