Rohit Sharma is currently the captain of the Indian cricket team in all three formats of the sport. The Men in Blue have performed well under his leadership. Around this time, last year, neither Sharma was the Indian cricket team captain nor Rahul Dravid was the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team.

It was the final chapter of the Virat Kohli-Ravi Shastri era, and their final Test together was at the Oval against the England cricket team. The Indian cricket team won that match and gained a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. While the series ended in a 2-2 draw this year, fans enjoyed the quality of the cricket in the first four Test matches of the series.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul played a very important role in the Indian cricket team’s success during the first four Test matches. The right-handed opening duo stitched up some crucial partnerships at the top. Sharma even scored his maiden Test hundred outside India in the fourth match of that ICC World Test Championship series.

Recalling what happened in the Indian dressing room soon after Sharma lost his wicket at Lord’s last year, Shastri said on air during the 2nd ODI yesterday:

“When Rohit got out, he came back to the dressing room and just sat quietly on a table. He was in a daze. He just wanted that hundred. A special feeling for any player to get a hundred at Lord’s. And you could see that he was really really dejected. But he made up for it at The Oval.”
