The captaincy debate of the Indian cricket team has reached the next level as cricket experts from across the world have been offering their opinions on whether Virat Kohli left the captaincy because of personal reasons or external reasons. Kohli first stepped down as the T20I captain ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup last year. The BCCI then made a call to change the ODI captain as the selectors wanted only one skipper for white-ball cricket.

Many fans thought that Virat would continue as the Test captain and Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the ODI and T20I formats. However, the same did not happen. After the ICC World Test Championship series against the South African cricket team, Virat shared a lengthy post on social media where he announced that he would no longer be the Test captain of Team India.

This decision shocked many fans because the Indian cricket team was performing extremely well under the captaincy of Virat. They won Test series on Australian soil and then took a 2-1 lead in an away series against the England cricket team. Some fans have questioned if the decision was taken because of pressure.
