Former Mumbai Indians coach Lalchand Rajput recently gave his opinion who should be the spin bowlers of the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Interestingly, he left mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy out of the squad. Varun played for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

The Indian team had a forgettable outing in the T20 WC 2021 as they lost their first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand to crash out of the mega event before the semifinals. The four spinners who played for India in that tournament were Ravichandran Ashwin, Varun CV, Rahul Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja.

Out of those four names, Lalchand Rajput feels that only Ravindra Jadeja will play for the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup later this year in Australia. During a chat on CricTracker’s Not Just Cricket Show, Rajput said that he would go with Jadeja and Washington Sundar as the two spin-bowling all-rounders.

“Definitely, the all-rounder would be Ravindra Jadeja. If Washington Sundar is fit, I would pick him, as on the Australian pitches, he would not be easy as he is a little bit faster, can bat, and is a good fielder as well,” said Rajput.

Lalchand Rajput thinks both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal should make it to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 team

Further in the discussion, Rajput took the names of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal as he also picked Ravi Bishnoi and continued:

“If Bishnoi bowls quicker and straight, he can be successful in Australia, while Kuldeep and Chahal have been performing really well in the ongoing IPL.”

Thus, Rajput feels that the five spinners who could make it to the Indian ICC T20 World Cup 2022 squad are Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi.
