The Tamil Nadu Premier League started as a small state-run league but now it has become one of the most prominent leagues in India in terms of producing young talent. It’s seventh edition has been introduced and will see a total of 8 teams competing against each other to become the champions.
The schedule and squads for all teams have been announced and it will begin on June 12 with a game between Lyca Kovai Kings and Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans. This season will see a number of big names participating in the TNPL 2023 that were also part of the Indian Premier League 2023. So let’s check the IPL players who will feature in the TNPL 2023.
List of IPL players who till take part in the TNPL 2023
Shahrukh Khan will lead Lyca Kovai Kings in the tournament. He was part of Punjab Kings in 2023 and scored 156 runs at a strike rate of 165.96 and a best of 41 not out.
Sai Sudharsan will be part of Lyca Kovai Kings in 2023 and was one of the emerging players in the recently concluded IPL edition. He played for Gujarat Titans and scored 362 runs in 8 innings at an excellent average of 51.71 and a strike rate of 141.41, with three half-centuries. He struck a brilliant 47-ball 96 in the final against CSK.
N Jagadeesan was part of Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023 and played six games in the recent season. He scored 89 runs, a best of 36. Jagadeesan will represent Chepauk Super Gillies that has won four TNPL titles out of six.
Washington Sundar is one of the regular names in Indian white-ball squad. Though he is an injury prone candidate and also ruled out of the IPL 2023 in midway due to an injury, but he will part of the upcoming TNPL season for Siechem Madurai Panthers. Sundar was part of SRH squad and scored 60 runs and took 3 wickets in 2023.
Murugan Ashwin was part of the Rajasthan Royals in the recent IPL season. He played two games but went wicketless. He will play alongside Sunday for Siechem Madurai Panthers in the TNPL 2023.
Vijay Shankar had a pretty decent IPL season in 2023 for Gujarat Titans. He played in 14 games and scored 301 runs at an average of 37.63 and 160.11 with three half-centuries. He will play IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the upcoming TNPL 2023.
R Sai Kishore is part of Gujarat Titans in 2023. But he didn’t play any games this season and played 5 matches in 2022, picking up six wickets. He will play for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the TNPL.
Ravi Ashwin is one of the biggest names in the upcoming edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. He played for RR in 2023 and picked up 14 wickets in 13 games at an economy rate of 7.51. He will play for Dindigul Dragons.
Varun Chakravarthy is another big name that will play in the TNPL. He will alongside Ashwin for Dindigul Dragons. Chakravarthy was one of the highest wicket-takers in the IPL 2023. He played 14 games for KKR and took 20 wickets.
T Natarajan will play for Ba11sy Trichy in the coming TNPL 2023. He played 12 games for SRH and took 10 wickets at an economy rate of 9.11.
Sandeep Warrier was also part of the IPL 2023. He was picked by Mumbai Indians as replacement of injured Jasprit Bumrah. Though he didn’t play a single game but he will now feature in Nellai Royal Kings.
Sonu Yadav is a young all-rounder who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023. The franchise picked up for his base price of INR 20 lakh but he didn’t play a game. He will now play for Nellai Royal Kings, who picked him for a price of INR 15.2 lakh.
