I couldn't sleep...- Mohit Sharma reveals the animated chat Hardik Pandya before last two balls vs Jadeja in IPL 2023 Final

It’s been more than 36 hours since, Chennai Super Kings pulled off a brilliant win over Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the IPL 2023 final. CSK won the game on the last ball of the match to win their fifth IPL title. It was Ravindra Jadeja who held his nerve and got the better of Mohit Sharma in the end.

CSK needed 13 runs off the last over, and Mohit bowled four good balls to concede only three runs. The equation came down to 10 off 2, and Jadeja was on the crease. But the all-rounder smashed the fifth ball for a six over long on.

Then he followed it up with a boundary down the short fine to seal the deal for his team. Those were not two good balls from the GT pacer, which made the difference. However, ahead of the last two balls, there was an animated chat between him and skipper Hardik Pandya.

In the end, it didn’t end well, and GT lost the final. Hours after the loss, the pacer opened up about the conversation he had with Hardik before the last two balls. In an interview with the Indian Express, Mohit said that he backed to bowl yorkers, but it didn’t land well.

He said, “My mind was very clear in what I wanted to do. I said let me bowl all balls yorkers and was backing my instinct. They wanted to know what will be his plan of action. I said I will again try to bowl yorker. People are now saying this and that but frankly it has no meaning. I knew what I wanted to do.”

However, many former cricketers believe that the discussion didn’t serve well and that it interrupted the concentration of the pacer, as he bowled four perfect yorkers on the first four balls. Mohit concluded, “What if I could have bowled this ball or that ball? It’s not a nice feeling now. Somewhere something is missing but I’m trying to move on.”
