The 55th match of IPL 2022 will get underway now at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where the defending champions Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with the Delhi Capitals. DC have won the toss and opted to field first, but there is a big news coming out of the Chennai Super Kings camp. Ravindra Jadeja, who captained CSK in the first half of the season, is not a part of the playing XI.

Jadeja had a forgettable run as the Chennai Super Kings skipper. Soon after, he handed over the team’s reins back to MS Dhoni. The team has performed decently under Dhoni and registered one win in two matches. Tonight, the Chennai Super Kings are up against the Delhi Capitals. Unfortunately, Jadeja is not a part of the playing XI.

Many fans would assume that the Chennai Super Kings have left Jadeja out of the playing XI because of his inconsistent performances in IPL 2022. However, the same is not true. Captain MS Dhoni informed at the toss that Jadeja is not fit, and Shivam Dube returned to the playing XI in his place.

“We have one change – Jaddu is not fit for this game so Shivam Dube comes in his place,” said MS Dhoni.

Ravindra Jadeja is not the first Chennai Super Kings player to get injured in IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings have suffered a lot in IPL 2022 due to injuries to their players. First, Deepak Chahar was ruled out of IPL 2022 because of injuries. Next, Dwayne Bravo and Shivam Dube missed a few matches because of injuries, and now, Ravindra Jadeja has joined the list.

Considering the fact that the Chennai Super Kings do not have enough chances of qualifying for the playoffs, the team management may look to rest Jadeja for the remaining matches because he will play a lot of matches for the Indian cricket team later this year.

Jadeja is a vital cog of the Indian cricket team in all three formats of cricket. Even he himself may prefer taking some rest instead of rushing a comeback.
