Arshdeep Singh has grabbed everyone’s attention with his stupendous performances for the Punjab Kings in the last few seasons of the Indian Premier League. The left-arm fast bowler has bowled impressive spells in the powerplay as well as the slog overs.
Singh was one of the two players that the Punjab Kings retained for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Last year, he was among the contenders to win the Purple Cap award, and this year also, he has played a match-winning role for the Punjab Kings.
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo yesterday after the match between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians, former Indian cricket team batter Sanjay Manjrekar opined that Arshdeep Singh is better than Bhuvneshwar Kumar in T20 cricket right now.
Manjrekar pointed out how the team management keeps on giving chances to Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the shortest format of the game. He believed that Arshdeep was among the top five T20 bowlers in India right now.

Here’s what Sanjay Manjrekar had to say during a discussion on ESPNCricinfo after the game between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings:
“India keeps going back to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He has been a wonderful bowler. But today, if you compare, Arshdeep is a much better bowler than Bhuvneshwar to have in the T20 side. He is certainly in the top 5 (among Indian bowlers). He must be wondering what else he needs to do (to get into the Indian side).”
The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play many T20I matches on the road to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. It will be interesting to see if the selectors give an opportunity to Arshdeep Singh to showcase his talent at the international level this year.
