The last edition took place in Australia, and it was England that won the tournament, beating Pakistan in the final. But with more teams taking part this time, it will be bigger than previous editions. The tournament will start on June 4 and run until June 30.

This will be the first time that the USA will be hosting an ICC event. Hence, both co-hosts have already qualified for the tournament. Team India and Pakistan are placed in the same group. Two teams each from four groups will make it to the super eight, where two groups will be divided into four teams each.

The top two from both groups will make it to the semi-finals. Team India will enter the tournament in the hope of ending their ICC trophy drought. The Indian team has not won an ICC championship since 2013. They came close in the World Cup 2023 but lost the final to Australia. They also lost the WTC finals against New Zealand and Australia, respectively.

Former Indian star Yuvraj Singh, who was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup-winning teams, feels that India doesn’t have many chances to win. Soft drink brand “ThumsUp” released a video on Instagram, featuring Yuvraj and Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir said that Afghanistan and Australia are two tough teams. Meanwhile, Yuvraj said that South Africa and Pakistan will be two of the top teams. Yuvi said, “I think South Africa will win. They have not won a white-ball tournament. And then obviously there’s Pakistan, who are very dangerous.”
