Yashasvi Jaiswal has been going through a dream debut. He started with a debut century in the first inning and scored 171 runs. Then he followed it up with a brilliant half-century in the second inning and made 57 in the second game.

Many believe that he is one for the future who can represent the country in all three formats. On the other hand, Shubman Gill, who has shifted to No. 3 after Jaiswal opened the inning, has registered 6 and 10 runs in two innings on this tour so far.

However, veteran Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik reckons that Gill is the player of the future in the Indian team. The current Indian team has a mix of youngsters and seniors. It is a great chance for players like Gill, Jaiswal, and Ishan Kishan to groom with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Notably, Karthik played with Gill for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. DK feels that the youngster can be a world-beater in the future. In an interview with Cricbuzz, DK said that if given time, Gill will prove to be a big name in world cricket.

Karthik said, “I can promise you, Shubman Gill is going to be something really special in the long run. Just stay with him, just be patient. He has something really special about him. Just give him time. I believe he is going to become one of the best that has ever played the game.”

Though the West Indies tour hasn’t gone well for the 23-year-old, he has scored plenty of runs across formats in the last 8–9 months. Speaking of the game, India finished its first innings at 438, with Virat Kohli scoring 121 runs. He scored his 76th international century and became the first batter to score a hundred in 500 international games. West Indies have started their first inning decently and are at 86/1 in 41 overs at the stumps of Day 2.
