“Only a matter of time”- R Ashwin backs Sanju Samson to break barriers in international cricket

Sanju Samson

Star Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has shown faith in his IPL team Rajasthan Royals‘ skipper Sanju Samson to fire all guns blazing in the international arena. Samson has been performing well for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and even played a few international matches for the country. However, he has not been able to cement his place in the Indian cricket team.

Samson made his debut long back but he has not received consistent chances to play for the Indian cricket team. In the few opportunities that he has got, he has failed to make it count. But the team management and the senior players have backed him to come off good in the near future.

Earlier this year, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma affirmed that Sanju Samson was in their plans for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 because of his ability to smash big sixes. Now, Samson’s new IPL teammate Ravichandran Ashwin has spoken highly of him. He even compared his skills with Rohit.

“I’ve always been stunned to a degree to see how Sanju bats. I used to be a fan of Rohit. We played along with each other, and Rohit is a special player, and Sanju is equally special, I think,” said Ashwin in a video released by the Rajasthan Royals.

“He’s not really broken those barriers at the international level yet. I think it’s only a matter of time, though,” the Tamil Nadu-based all-rounder added.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Sanju Samson will play together for the 1st time in IPL

Rajasthan Royals signed Ravichandran Ashwin at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They had previously retained Sanju as their number one retention.

Samson and Ashwin will be keen to help the Royals win their second title in the 2022 season. RR won their first title in 2008 but have never reached another IPL Final.
