Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur has made a name for himself with his all-round performances in Test cricket. The Maharashtra-based player was considered as a pure bowler in the initial phases of his career, but the right-handed batter has performed exceptionally well with the willow for the Indian Test team in overseas Test matches.

Many fans would know that Shardul Thakur scored a match-winning half-century for the Indian cricket team in their historic Gabba Test match against the Australian cricket team earlier this year. Later in the year, when the Indian cricket team went to the United Kingdom for an away Test series against the England cricket team, Shardul Thakur fired with the bat again and smashed a quickfire fifty.

While many batters are skeptical while playing their shots in SENA countries, Shardul has been fearless against the fast bowlers even in the conditions that help the pacers. Thakur’s Chennai Super Kings teammate Imran Tahir took note of the same and praised the Indian cricket team star for his all-round talent during his recent appearance on Star Sports.

“You need to be courageous for that. You are talking about playing pull shots in England, South Africa and Australia. I think only Shardul Thakur can do that. But I think that you need confidence and practice as well. He has done really well so far and I am sure that he will try to do the same on this tour.”

While Shardul has done well outside India, he got out for just 4 runs in the first innings in Centurion. It will be interesting to see how the all-rounder performs in the next innings.
