Ashes is one of the biggest cricketing rivalry between England and Australia. Losing the series means a lot of criticism awaits you. That that’s what the England players are getting after losing the Ashes 4-0 out of 5 matches. They could only manage to draw one match in the series.

The performance from the England team in overall was not the best as the batting department and the bowling department struggled to put up fight against the mighty Aussies, especially the England batsmen who looked clueless against the Kangaroos’ pace bowling attack.

Captain Joe Root was the only exception from that list as the Yorkshire man had a good series. But questions were raised on his captaincy as well.

And when most of the England cricket experts have spoken against them, the former England captain Paul Collingwood has come out in support of them.

Paul Collingwood was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as accepting that the England team did made a number of mistakes, whether it is toss wise or team selection wise, but added that the team should be given medal instead of criticism for them to sticking within the bio-bubble rules and completing the 5 match series.

He added that the series should have been split into two phases so that bio-bubble couldn’t been a factor.

He then gave an example of the whole scenario by giving football example where the England football is first asked to play the Football World Cup in a bio-bubble and then shift another bio-bubble to play in the Euros.

Well, Paul Collingwood support will surely give the players a morale boost as they prepare for their next assignment when they will take on West Indies for 3 match Test series beginning from March. The series though, has already began with the 5-match T20I series, which is currently being led by the West Indies team by 2-1 after 3 matches.
