IPL 2024 Auction was an emotional occasion for Delhi Capitals team and fans because captain Rishabh Pant finally made an appearance. Pant was present in Dubai at the auction table of the franchise, and he was bidding as well, along with the likes of Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, who are the support staff members of DC.
Delhi Capitals had a forgettable season last year, where they failed to qualify for the playoffs. With Pant back in the mix now, DC fans will have higher hopes from the franchise. Before the IPL 2024 season starts, here’s a look at DC’s strongest XI after the auction.
Openers of DC after IPL 2024 Auction – David Warner and Prithvi Shaw
The left hand-right hand combination of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw will open the batting for the Delhi Capitals. Both batters have the capability to single-handedly win matches for the franchise. Warner has been quite consistent in the IPL, but Shaw had a bad season in 2023. He will try to bounce back in 2024.
Middle Order – Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c), Harry Brook, Kumar Kushagra (wk), Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav
Mitchell Marsh will bat at number three for the Capitals. Rishabh Pant will be back in the playing XI, but it is unclear whether he will keep the wickets for the team. Harry Brook has joined the Capitals for IPL 2024, and he will be the main overseas middle-order batter.
All-rounder Axar Patel will be surrounded by new Indian cricketers Kumar Kushagra and Lalit Yadav. Both youngsters will be hungry to prove themselves at the grand stage.
Bowlers – Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed (Impact Player)
Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma had a memorable IPL season in 2023. He will lead the pace attack of DC with South African star Anrich Nortje. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed shall come in as an Impact Player, while left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be the key to DC spin unit’s success.
