IPL 2025 will begin in March, and the mega auction for the tournament happened last week in Saudi Arabia. The 10 teams spent around 600 crore rupees to secure some of the world’s best cricketers for the upcoming tournament of IPL.
Openers always play an important role in any team’s success. While some of the world’s top openers like David Warner, Chris Lynn, Tom Latham and Prithvi Shaw remained unsold at the auction, there were several other openers who got bids and ended up earning big as well.
Speaking about the opening pairs of each team in IPL 2025 now, Sunrisers Hyderabad had already retained their two explosive openers from 2024 – Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. For Gujarat Titans, Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill will likely open the innings, while Rohit Sharma has got a new explosive opening partner at Mumbai Indians in the form of Will Jacks.
Lucknow Super Giants may have to promote Rishabh Pant as an opener, with Aiden Markram being his probable partner. For Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul and Jake Fraser-McGurk seems to be the best opening pair, and for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahmanullah Gurbaz might open alongside the destructive Sunil Narine.
Chennai Super Kings fans will see a reunion of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans should witness a destructive pair of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Here is the predicted opening pair for each team in IPL 2025.
