Prithvi Shaw is captaining Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022 Final against Madhya Pradesh. The former India U-19 skipper has an opportunity to add the prestigious Ranji Trophy to his cabinet. However, it seems like Madhya Pradesh will not allow Mumbai to add another championship to their cabinet of trophies.

Madhya Pradesh have taken a first-innings lead of 171 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision seemingly worked in their favor as they scored 374 runs in their first innings. Captain Prithvi Shaw looked in good touch during his 79-ball 47, while his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up a half-century.

Middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan continued his excellent form and scored another century for Mumbai this season. However, the lower-order batters could not contribute much, which is why Mumbai failed to touch the 400-run mark.

Gaurav Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Madhya Pradesh. He took four wickets for his state, while Mumbai Indians bowler Kumar Kartikeya scalped one wicket.

In reply, Madhya Pradesh are 536/9 in their first innings right now. Royal Challengers Bangalore star Rajat Patidar has continued his good form and scored 122 runs off 219 deliveries for Madhya Pradesh. He received great support from Yash Dubey and Shubham Sharma, who scored a century each.

Prithvi Shaw has won the fans’ hearts with his gesture during the rain break

Rain has interrupted the proceedings in Bengaluru right now. The weather in Bengaluru did not allow the series decider of India vs South Africa series to complete, and it seems the Ranji Trophy Final may be impacted as well.

A Twitter user shared an image from the stadium, where Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw could be seen providing a helping hand to the groundsmen who ran on the field with covers.
