Dewald Brevis was one of the many South African cricketers who earned a contract at the IPL 2022 Auction. However, the youngster was busy playing in the domestic T20 competition at that time. Senior player Quinton de Kock asked him to come and watch the mega auction on the television.

The most successful team in the Indian Premier League history, Mumbai Indians, signed the youngster from South Africa for a massive INR 3 crore price. Many fans thought that the Royal Challengers Bangalore would bid for Brevis because ahead of the mega auction, everyone hyped him as the baby version of former RCB wicket-keeper batter AB de Villiers. However, it did not happen.

Nevertheless, Brevis was delighted with the contract that the Mumbai Indians gave to him. Here’s what he was quoted as saying during a recent interview with the Mumbai-based IPL franchise.

“I was playing for the Titans in the CSA T20 challenge during the auction and my name literally came up in the middle of the game. I remember Quinton de Kock asking me to come up to the TV to watch what was happening.”

Quinton de Kock is no longer a part of the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL

While Dewald Brevis watched the auction after Quinton de Kock’s reminder, the left-handed wicket-keeper batter from South Africa lost his place in the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of IPL 2022. The former Mumbai Indians star will turn up for the Lucknow Super Giants team in this year’s IPL. He is all set to open the innings with captain KL Rahul.

As far as Dewald Brevis is concerned, it will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to play for the Mumbai Indians because the team has experienced T20 stars like Kieron Pollard and Tim David as the overseas finishers.
