Yesterday night, fans witnessed the first-ever battle between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL history. The match went down to the wire, where the Bangalore-based franchise prevailed by 18 runs eventually.

However, the match could have been closer as well. In the 19th over, the first ball bowled by Josh Hazlewood to Marcus Stoinis was way outside the tramline. However, since Stoinis shuffled a bit, the on-field umpire did not feel it was a wide. Stoinis lost his cool and got out on the next ball. He was visibly frustrated with the umpire. Here’s what the bowler Josh Hazlewood said regarding that incident:

“I tried to turn around as quickly as I could but I got a bit lucky with that one.”

Kris Srikkanth gives his opinion on that controversial umpiring decision

Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth is a member of the Tamil commentary panel for IPL 2022. After the match ended, he wrote the following on his official Twitter handle:

“What is happening with the umpiring @IPL , it’s quite pathetic and small bad decisions lead to big outcomes! Wake up and put some people who actually can be a ref!”

Most of the fans have agreed with Kris’ comments because the ball was way outside off. However, the match is in the history books now, and the winners of the match are the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hazlewood was the best bowler for them with four wickets, while captain Faf du Plessis top-scored for the franchise with a 96-run knock at the top.
