Former Indian cricket team Head Coach Ravi Shastri has opened up on why he thinks Virat Kohli will also step down as India’s ODI captain following him stepping down as India’s captain in the T20 International cricket.

Ravi Shastri sat on a live interview with India Today, where the former India Head Coach talked about a various things, including why he believes that Virat Kohli will also step down as India’s captain in the 50 overs format of the game.

Virat Kohli had earlier announced that he would be stepping down as India’s captain in the shortest format of game after the T20 World Cup 2021, which he did and Rohit Sharma has been appointed the new captain for the T20 Internationals.

Ravi Shastri, who was the Head Coach of the Indian senior team from 2017, has also left the Indian setup after his tenure as Head Coach ended after the T20 World Cup 2021, Rahul Dravid has been appointed as new Indian cricket team Head Coach.

Ravi Shastri on why Virat Kohli might step down as India’s ODI Captain

Ravi Shastri during a candid chat with India Today, stated that Virat Kohli might step down as India’s captain in the One Day Internationals (ODI) as well if he is mentally fatigued or he wants to focus on his batting and captaining the Indian Test team.

Virat Kohli announced he will step down as India’s T20 captain

It must be noted that Virat Kohli was captaining the Indian cricket team in all formats as well as he was captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, just befor the 2nd phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 season began in UAE, Virat Kohli had announced that he will be stepping down as captain of the Indian team in T20 format and will also quit RCB’s captaincy as well.
