In a startling development, star Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has received the 82nd spot in the latest ICC ODI Rankings for Batters. Not many fans would know that New Zealand cricket team’s bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner holds the 81st position on the batters’ charts. Many members of the cricket universe rate Pant as one of the best batters in the world, but he is not even in the Top 80 of the ICC ODI Rankings.
Speaking of the ICC ODI Rankings for batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continued to be in the Top 3 of the standings. Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam is the number one name on the rankings, while Virat and Rohit are second and third.
Ross Taylor jointly holds the third position with Sharma. Quinton de Kock has climbed to the fifth rank, courtesy of his consistent performances against the Indian cricket team.
Apart from de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen has also improved his position after a good performance in the series against the Indian cricket team. Both de Kock and van der Dussen managed more than 200 runs each in the three matches against the Indian cricket team. Quinton has climbed four spots to grab number five spot, whereas van der Dussen has risen 10 places to attain 10th position.
Rishabh Pant will have a chance to improve his ranking soon
Rishabh Pant will now be in action in the home series against the West Indies cricket team and the South African cricket team. After a disappointing performance versus South Africa, Pant will be keen to make his mark in the home season.
A series of good performances can help Pant enter the Top 75 of the ICC ODI Rankings for batters. It will be interesting to see which position he attains.
