Rohit Sharma is set to take charge of the Indian cricket team as the full time T20 captain of the team. And just before he takes the field tonight against New Zealand, a old tweet of his about leading a team has gone viral on Social Media.

India is set to play New Zealand in a home series that will consist of 3 T20 International matches and that will be followed by 2 Test matches.

The series marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Indian cricket team as former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid takes over as India’s Head Coach for the coming 2 years.

While Rohit Sharma takes control as the full time T20 captain of the Indian team from Virat Kohli, following the latter’s decision to step down as India’s T20 captain after the T20 World Cup 2021.

And just before Rohit Sharma take the field tonight against New Zealand, a old tweet of his has gone viral on Social Media. The tweet is from way back in November 2012, when Rohit was set to lead the Mumbai team against Rajasthan in a domestic match.

His tweet was about leading the Mumbai team and the extra added responsibility that it brings with it. His tweet reads, “Touched down in jaipur and yes I will be leading the side, looking forward to the added responsibility.”

While the tweet was about leading the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy, Rohit Sharma has went on to become one of the most successful captains in India, having won the Indian Premier League (IPL) five times with Mumbai Indians as their captain.

He has also won various Trophies with the Indian mens cricket team, as a stand in captain in absence of Virat Kohli.

India vs New Zealand Series

The India vs New Zealand series commences tonight with the 1st T20I match to be played in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium from 7 PM onwards. The 2nd and the 3rd T20I matches will be played on the 19th and 21st of November. The 2 Test matches will be played from 25th-29th November and 3rd-7th December in Kanpur and Mumbai respectively.
