Not long ago, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) posted a tweet that he will soon pitch an idea to the International Cricket Council (ICC). There has been no official update regarding the dates or schedule for that series, but BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has clarified that he is currently not focused on any T20 Super Series. Speaking to Reuters, Shah said that his main responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, especially Test cricket.

Shah pointed out that the window for the Indian Premier League will soon be expanding. Also, there will be ICC events will be at more frequency, which is why safeguarding bilateral cricket was important.

“I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative,” Shah added.

India and Pakistan only play against each other in ICC tournaments

India and Pakistan’s rivalry attracts a lot of interest from fans across the world. Recently, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said that people who do not like cricket also watch India vs. Pakistan matches, highlighting the incredible viewership the matches get.

However, because of political tensions between the two nations, there are no bilateral cricket series between the two arch-rivals. They only meet at ICC events. Their most recent match happened at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where the Men in Green won by 10 wickets. Their next match is scheduled to take place on October 23 later this year. It will be in the Super 12 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at MCG.
