“Shouldn’t have gone public with that”- Sourav Ganguly’s brother Snehashish unhappy with Wriddhiman Saha’s comments

Cricket Association of Bengal President Snehashish Ganguly has given his opinion on the recent happenings in Indian cricket involving Bengal’s veteran wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha. Many fans would have already read what Saha about his conversations with the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and the Indian men’s cricket team’s head coach Rahul Dravid.

Saha stated that Sourav told the wicket-keeper he will be in the squad at least as long as he is at the helm of the BCCI after Saha scored a half-century against the New Zealand team. However, after the tour of South Africa, Saha was informed by the team management that he won’t be considered for the Test squad going forward.

Reacting to the statements made by Wriddhiman Saha, Snehashish Ganguly had the following to say during a press conference according to the Indian Express:

“This is my personal opinion, but what was communicated to him (Saha) by the chief selector/BCCI was private. He probably shouldn’t have gone public with that. Also, he could have played the Ranji Trophy. He cited personal reasons for pulling out and we have to respect that.”

Snehashish Ganguly says door is always open for Wriddhiman Saha to play domestic cricket for Bengal

During the same press conference, the CAB President affirmed that they did not pick Saha for the Ranji Trophy because of his personal reasons. In the interview, Saha also said that he was not playing Ranji Trophy matches due to personal reasons.

Snehashish Ganguly concluded by saying that the door is always open for Wriddhiman Saha if he wants to play domestic cricket for Bengal. The 2022 edition of the Ranji Trophy is currently underway, and it will be interesting to see if Saha joins the Bengal squad for the remaining matches. After the Ranji Trophy, Saha will play for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.
