Shubman Gill won the Man of the Match award in the IPL 2022 game between the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants last night at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The right-handed batter opened the innings for GT and remained in the middle till the end of the 20th over.
Gill aggregated 63 runs off 49 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants. He smashed seven fours in his inning. Since he was in the middle for 20 overs and did not hit a single six, some fans trolled him on Twitter. A few of them even said that he played a selfish knock to improve his numbers.
However, the cricket universe that watched the innings of Gill would know that the pitch was tough to bat on. In the end, he was the only batter to score a half-century in the match. Gill’s knock helped the Gujarat Titans finish with 144/4 on the board.
Chasing 145 to win, Lucknow Super Giants struggled to even score the runs that Shubman alone scored. The likes of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya had a forgettable day in the office as the Lucknow Super Giants lost all their wickets for just 82 runs.

A popular website covered the Twitter reactions trolling Gill for his slow knock against the Lucknow Super Giants. After winning the Man of the Match award for his 49-ball 63, Gill quoted that tweet and hinted that slow and steady always wins the race, with the emojis of the hare and the tortoise.
