The Indian cricket team fans have seen many players rise from poor backgrounds and becoming superstars in the cricket world. Sport has always rewarded the real talents, and one of such real talented players is Mohammed Siraj. However, his journey has not been so smooth.

Siraj hails from a poor family. His father used to drive auto rickshaw to earn money. The right-arm fast bowler came into the limelight with his impressive performances in the domestic cricket. The Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him in 2017, and after that, Mohammed joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It proved to be life-changing for the fast bowler as captain Virat Kohli backed him despite his shortcomings.

Like many cricket fans, Kohli knew Siraj’s potential which is why he always backed him. However, the internet was not kind to him. Whenever he bowled an expensive spell, the trolls would make disappointing comments about him just for a moment of laughter. Some people criticized him and even took his family background in the picture.

It affected his mindset, but the fast bowler continued to work hard and is now one of the best pacers in the country. The Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained him for INR 7 crore ahead of the mega auction. He has also represented India in all three formats and played a match-winning role for the country in the ICC World Test Championship series win against the Australian cricket team.

Mohammed Siraj spoke about trolls on Australia Test series special

The fast bowler appeared on Sony’s Down Underdogs story, where he spoke about the trolls and said:

“I got trolled heavily on social media in 2018, some told I should stick to driving auto like my father instead of playing cricket – that time I had made my mind that I am going nowhere and then to pick 5 wicket haul at Gabba was dream come true.”
