Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis were members of the Chennai Super Kings squad that won IPL 2021 a few months ago in Dubai. Both cricketers have a different status in the Indian Premier League now. While Raina went unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, du Plessis joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The former South African captain will play the role of RCB’s skipper in IPL 2022. Meanwhile, Raina will work as a commentator in IPL 2022. Recently, du Plessis posted a reel of himself in the RCB colors on his official Instagram handle.
“So grateful to have an opportunity to be preparing for another IPL season. Really looking forward to it all… Lets go !!” du Plessis captioned the reel.
Soon after, his former CSK teammates Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suresh Rana made their presence felt in the comments box. Here’s what the two star players wrote. “Faf, best wishes skipper go well buddy,” Raina commented. “Guns stronger than before,” Gaikwad wrote.

Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis are unlikely to play together in the IPL now
Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis achieved much success during their stint with the Chennai Super Kings. They won the IPL trophy in 2011, 2018 and 2021 together. Raina and du Plessis were the members of the CSK squad that won the only 10-team IPL in the tournament’s history.
Now IPL 2022 is set to be a 10-team competition as well. It will be interesting to see if du Plessis can lead his new franchise to a historic title. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will open their IPL 2022 campaign against the Punjab Kings in an evening game on March 27 in Mumbai.
