Ravi Ashwin recently became the 14th Indian player to get the 100th test cap when he stepped on to the field in the fifth and final test against England. The final test is underway at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, and it is a historic test for the veteran spinner. He is featuring in his 100th test match.
Since making his test debut in 2011, it took Ashwin 13 years to reach this landmark. Notably, Ashwin is also the oldest Indian cricketer to play his 100th test, as he is currently 37 years and 172 days old and went past Sourav Ganguly, who played his 100th test at 35 years and 171 days. 3. Ishant Sharma – 32 year 175 days
Ishant Sharma played his 100th test against England in February 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium. He was 32 years and 175 days old when he played that game. India ended up winning that game by 10 wickets. Ishant took 1/26 and scored 10* in that match. Ishant played 105 tests in his career and took 311 wickets.
2. Kapil Dev – 30 year 313 days
It is very rare to win a Man of the Match in your 100th test, but legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev did it. He played his 100th test against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989 and showed a brilliant all-round display. He batted once and scored 55 off 50 balls in the first inning. With this, he became the first Indian to score a fifty on the 100th test. With the ball, he took 4/69 and 3/82. Eventually, he ended up winning the MOTM award.
3. Sachin Tendulkar – 29 year 134 days
A figure of 100 test matches is massive, and it takes more than decades for players to reach this landmark. But Sachin Tendulkar did it before turning 30, which is just incredible. At the age of 29 years and 134 days, Sachin played his 100th test against England in September 2002 at the Oval. It was a draw, but he scored 54 runs in the one inning he batted. Overall, Sachin played 200 tests and scored 15921 runs with 51 centuries.
