Scotland all-rounder Chris Greaves stole the show in the second match of the 2021 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup by scalping two wickets and scoring 45 runs against the Bangladesh cricket team. Not many expected Scotland to beat Bangladesh in the Round 1 match of Super 12. However, the Scots surprised everyone and defeated the 2018 Asia Cup runners-up by six runs.
Chris Greaves was the hero for Scotland. In the first innings, the Scottish team was down to 53/6 in 11.3 overs. Chris Greaves came out to bat at number seven and played an impressive knock of 45 runs. He aggregated 45 runs off just 28 deliveries, whacking four fours and two sixes against the Bangladeshi bowlers.
Greaves’ innings helped the Scotland cricket team end their 20 overs with a score of 140 runs. It did not seem like a par score, but a fine effort from the Scottish bowlers ensured that the Scotland cricket recorded a last-over win against Bangladesh. Scotland conceded 134 runs in 20 overs to a star-studded Bangladeshi batting lineup featuring the likes of Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah.
Chris Greaves dismissed two of the most experienced Bangladeshi batters
Only a few players who participated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 are playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, and two of the names are from Bangladesh. The first is all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who became the highest wicket-taker in T20 international cricket history. The second is Mushfiqur Rahim, who is one of the most successful batters in Bangladesh cricket history.
Greaves dismissed both players in his spell of three overs. He conceded only 19 runs and bowled at an economy rate 6.3. Twitter was in awe of the Scot all-rounder’s performance, with some even opining he deserves an IPL contract. Here are some of the top Twitter reactions:
Chris Greaves is the hero for Scotland, in his second T20I in his career and made the difference in the match.

53-6 in 12 overs with the bat. Game was almost done & dusted. Bounce back to post 140. Struck early in powerplay to pin Bang 2-25 in 6.
Bang came back with 2-60, choked again keeping them to 134-7 & winning by 6 runs.
Chris Greaves: 48(25), 2-19 in 3.
Imagine putting in a performance like that on your #T20WorldCup debut, and in your second overall T20I 😯

Scotland beat Bangladesh! Not an upset. In-form side beats a side looking for conditions in their favour to win.

To come from being 53/6 to post that score and then bowl that well. Well played Scotland. Chris Greaves was the hero of the day for them.
