The Scotland cricket team started its T20 World Cup 2021 campaign with a six-run victory against Asian giants Bangladesh. Many fans expected the Bangladesh cricket team to win this match because they recently registered T20I series against Australia and New Zealand at home. However, the Bangla Tigers failed to down the Scottish team in Oman.

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Bangladeshi bowlers started off well and reduced Scotland to 53/6 in 11.3 overs. Experienced players of Scotland namely Kyle Coetzer, Callum MacLeod and Richie Berrington were back in the pavilion. However, a 45-run knock from Chris Greaves ensured that the Scotland cricket team touched the 140-run mark.

Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, with figures of 3/19, while IPL 2021 stars Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets for the Bangla Tigers.

Chasing 141 runs to win, Bangladesh lost both their openers in the powerplay. A 47-run third-wicket partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim guided the Bangla Tigers closer to the target. However, Scotland’s star all-rounder Greaves dismissed both Shakib and Rahim to turn the match in Scotland’s favor.
