Virat Kohli has dropped by four positions on the latest ICC Test Rankings for batters. The right-handed batter from India did not have a memorable outing in the recently-concluded ICC World Test Championship series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. In the series where he played his 100th and 101st Test matches, Kohli returned with scores of 45, 23 and 13.
Fans expected that Kohli would end his drought of centuries during the home series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. However, the same did not happen as the Sri Lankan spinners troubled Kohli. Courtesy of the recent performances in Test cricket, Kohli has dropped below Babar Azam in the latest ICC Test Rankings for batters.
Babar is currently captaining the Pakistan cricket team in their ICC World Test Championship series against the Australian cricket team. The right-handed batter recently scored a century in the second game of the series happening at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Virat Kohli was in the fifth position on the ICC Test Rankings for batters last week. However, now he is down to number nine, with four batters from different nations rising above him.
Dimuth Karunaratne has replaced Virat Kohli in the Top 5 of the ICC Test Rankings for batters
Sri Lankan cricket team captain Dimuth Karunaratne recorded a magnificent century in the fourth innings of the Bengaluru Test. As a result, he has climbed to fifth position on the ICC Test Rankings. The other batters who went above Virat are Rohit Sharma, Travis Head and Babar Azam.
The Indian cricket team is not scheduled to play a single Test until July 2022. With other countries set to play a few tests in that duration, it will be interesting to see if Virat remains in the Top 10 of the leaderboard when he takes the field against England for the fifth Test.
