Virat Kohli has not been at his best with the willow of late. His disappointing form has taken him down to the ninth position in the latest ICC Test Rankings for batters. The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest Test rankings earlier today. In the batting department, there was not a single change in the Top 6, with Marnus Labuschagne, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Rohit Sharma and David Warner holding on to their spots.

However, Virat Kohli, who was seventh, has now dropped to the ninth ranking. The two batters who overtook him on the rankings are Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Australian batter Travis Head continues to be in the tenth position.

One of the major reasons behind Virat Kohli’s downfall in the ICC Rankings has been his drought of centuries. The right-handed batter has not touched the three-figure mark in any format of cricket since the day/night Test match against Bangladesh which happened in November 2019.

Speaking of the other changes in the batting rankings, Rishabh Pant has dropped two spots to attain the 16th position, whereas Mayank Agarwal has climbed one position and grabbed the 12th ranking. Cheteshwar Pujara, who has struggled with his form of late, has dropped five spots and is now holding the 22nd spot.

Jasprit Bumrah overtakes Mitchell Starc in ICC Test Rankings for bowlers

While Virat Kohli has slipped to the ninth rank on the batters’ charts, his teammate Jasprit Bumrah has risen from 12th to ninth spot in the latest Test rankings for bowlers. Bumrah’s five-wicket match-haul against South Africa in Centurion has taken him above Mitchell Starc, Kyle Jamieson and Hasan Ali.

In the bowlers’ rankings, Australia captain Pat Cummins is number one, while Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is number two.
