During a conversation on Sports 18’s show Home of Heroes, Virender Sehwag described former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond as the toughest fast bowler he has faced in his long cricket career. According to him, Shane Bond used to swing the ball inwards with speed and because of which, he had to face a lot of problems while tackling Bond’s delivery.

During the conversation, Virender Sehwag said that Shane Bond’s balls were such that they would swing towards the batsman’s body, even if he bowled outside the off-stump.

“His deliveries would come swinging into your body, even if he bowled outside off stump,” said Sehwag.

Apart from this, Virender Sehwag named Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar as two more fast bowlers he had problems facing. He said that with Shoaib Akhtar, he did not know when he would do just anything.

Sehwag said that he was never afraid to face Brett Lee, but when it’s about Shoaib Akhtar, he said that he was afraid of what he would do if he (Sehwag) would hit him two big shots. He sarcastically said that maybe his next ball would be a bouncer or he may bowl a toe crushing yorker.

“I never feared facing Brett Lee, but with Shoaib (Akhtar), I could not trust what he would do if I hit him twice to the fence. Maybe a beamer or a toe-crushing yorker,” Sehwag signed off

Let us tell you that Virender Sehwag was also very successful against Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee. Especially against Shoaib Akhtar, he used to score a lot of runs. He used to take advantage of Akhtar’s pace, which had worked really well for the Indian aggressive opener. An example of it could considered the inning when he scored a triple century against Pakistan in Multan and apart from this he also played many swashbuckling innings.
