Former Indian cricket team batter Wasim Jaffer recently named the three wicket-keeper batters whom the Indian selectors could pick in the squad for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Australia will host the mega event in October and November, where 16 teams from across the world will compete against each other to win the coveted prize.

Last year, UAE and Oman played host to this marquee event, where the Indian cricket team failed to qualify for the semifinals despite having one of the strongest squads in the tournament. India lost their first two matches of the tournament against Pakistan and New Zealand, leading to their early exit from the competition.

Since the team performed so badly in the first two matches of ICC T20 World Cup 2021, fans hope for a better show from Rohit Sharma and co. in the 2022 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. Wicket-keepers always play a crucial role in the team’s success.

Last year, the Indian cricket team had three wicket-keeping options available in their squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan were the three options available with the team. Wasim Jaffer made a change to the trio while picking his wicket-keepers for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad during his appearance on CricTracker’s Not Just Cricket show.

My first-choice wicket-keeper will be KL Rahul: Wasim Jaffer

Naming the three wicket-keepers that the Indian cricket team should have in their squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year, Jaffer said:

“My first-choice wicket-keeper will be KL Rahul if the team goes ahead with only one wicket-keeper. The second one will be Rishabh Pant, who can’t be dropped as he can be the future captain of the Indian team. The third one will be Dinesh Karthik. It will be a toss-up between Pant and Karthik.”
