Interestingly, Jaffer left out Shardul Thakur, who played for the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. As reported by CricTracker, Jaffer went with six options in the pace-bowling department.

The former Indian batter named Jasprit Bumrah as his first pick. Bumrah has been a top performer for the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. The right-arm pacer has not been at his best in IPL 2022, but fans can expect him to fire all cylinders in ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

The second name on the list was IPL 2021 Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel. Courtesy of his exploits in the Indian Premier League last year, Patel made his international debut after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He made a positive impact and is in the race for a place in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

Wasim Jaffer thinks Deepak Chahar can play for India in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is he is fit

The next name on the list is Deepak Chahar. However, Jaffer mentioned that his injury status will decide his place in the squad. Jaffer also picked Sunrisers Hyderabad star T Natarajan. The presence of Natarajan will give India variety in their pace attack since he is a left-arm pace bowler. Also, Natarajan has done well in the Australian conditions.

The fifth name was Mohammed Shami, who has been sensational for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. Jaffer concluded by saying that for the backup option, the team management could consider either Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Prasidh Krishna.
