Sachin Tendulkar comes out to bat for the first time in 5 years:
The greatest cricket batsman of all time, Sachin Tendulkar made his return to the cricket field for the first time in five years as he donned the batsman’s gear to face one over from Australian women’s cricketer Ellyse Perry.
The Aussie female star had requested the Indian batting maestro to come out of retirement and raise money for the bushfire relief fund by facing six deliveries of her. It looked like the Indian batsman would not oblige her but much to the surprise of the fans, he accepted her challenge.
In case you did not know, just like Sachin Tendulkar is known as the biggest player of the men’s arena, Ellyse Perry has made a name for herself playing in the women’s division. She is one of the main reasons why the Australian Women’s Team is considered to be the best in the world.
The cricket universe may have an idea about the Australian bushfire and how it impacted thousands of people Down Under. Earlier, the tennis stars had organized a Rally for Relief event to raise funds for donation and then Australian spin wizard Shane Warne auctioned his baggy green cap for 1 million dollars to donate his bit to the fund.
A lot of Australian cricketers donated funds during the Big Bash League but since the damage was so widespread, the organizers decided to contribute more to the funds by organizing a special legends charity match where the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, and Adam Gilchrist are playing.
Sachin was initially supposed to play the role of coach only but because of the special request from Perry, he came out to bat much to the joy of the fans. He faced six deliveries and his stance looked the same as the one when he began his international career.
