An excellent century from captain KL Rahul inspired the Lucknow Super Giants to a score of 199 runs in their first innings. Chasing 200 to win their maiden game in IPL 2022, MI finished with 181/9 in 20 overs and lost by 18 runs.

Speaking to the host broadcasters after the match, MI captain Rohit Sharma said:

“I prepare the same way I prepare every game but it’s just not coming off, I take the full responsibility, I’ve not been able to put the team in a position that the team expects me to but I back myself to do well in every game, I don’t like to look drown too much into it, we’ve come back before and will come back again!”

Rohit Sharma scored only 6 runs for Mumbai Indians against Lucknow Super Giants

Mumbai Indians fans expected a special knock from their skipper Rohit earlier today during a run-chase of 200 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants. However, Sharma’s disappointing form continued as he got out for just six runs off a delivery bowled by Avesh Khan.

Sharma is yet to get going in this year’s IPL season. He has played six matches and scored zero half-centuries. However, one should not forget that Rohit is a champion player, and like he said, he and his team could make a comeback in IPL 2022. MI need to win all of their remaining eight matches to remain alive in the race to the playoffs. Their next match is against Chennai Super Kings on April 21.
