The Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match between India and Pakistan in Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium was a frustrating day for both teams as it got called off due to rain. While there is a Reserve Day scheduled, the weather forecast is not promising, and there’s a chance it could also be affected by rain.

Regarding the playing conditions on the Reserve Day, it typically depends on the rules and regulations set by the tournament organizers, as well as the playing conditions specific to this event.

Generally, if a match is interrupted or called off due to rain, the overs for the teams may be reduced, and the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method or a similar rain rule may be applied to determine revised targets for the teams batting second.

However, for the precise playing conditions on the Reserve Day of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match, one would need to refer to the official regulations set by the tournament authorities or the match officials’ decisions.

The scheduled reserve day that has been fixed for the match, will come into effect since as the per the rules, both the teams couldn’t play 20 over each to determine the result by DLS method. The match will resume from 3 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

The Indian cricket team will pick up from a score of 147/2 after 24.1 overs, where they left off on the 1st day, with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli still at the crease after scoring 17 and 8 runs respectively. Both the Indian openers have India a good start but have now returned back to pavilion, thus Rahul and Kohli will resume the inning.

The match will continue as a 50-over-per-side contest, it’s just that Team India will resume its inning from 24.1 overs from the previous day while Pakistan will get a full 50 overs on the 2nd day.

However, if the Reserve Day is also affected by rain and unable to be played, both India and Pakistan will receive one point each in this situation.

If the Reserve Day also gets washed out, India’s path to the final will become more challenging. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have both secured two points by winning their opening matches in this round.

Furthermore, India will face the unique situation of playing on three consecutive days, with their next game against Sri Lanka scheduled for September 12.

Before the rain intervened, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill showcased aggressive batting skills, both achieving remarkable half-centuries. Their partnership of 121 runs in just 100 balls propelled India to a score of 147 for the loss of 2 wickets against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma scored 56 runs from 49 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes, while Shubman Gill scored 58 runs from 52 balls with 10 fours.
