“When he was in secondary school”- Ian Bishop reveals how Rovman Powell promised his mom to take them out of poverty and fulfilled it

West Indies legend Ian Bishop has disclosed the lesser-known details of Rovman Powell’s past. The current West Indies cricketer had a rough childhood, where his family did not have enough money. Bishop revealed that when Powell was in secondary school, he promised his mother that he would take his family out of poverty.

Considering the fact that Rovman Powell plays international cricket for West Indies, represents franchises in T20 leagues and most recently earned an Indian Premier League contract, the Caribbean star seems to have fulfilled the promise he made to his mother.

Powell is currently playing for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. The right-handed batter failed to get going in the initial few matches, but he wowed the fans with his clean-hitting in the match against the Rajasthan Royals. Last night in the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he played a match-winning knock for DC.

“He has come from humble beginnings. He promised his mom that he will take them out of poverty when he was still in secondary school. He is living that dream to do that. Great story,” Bishop added.

Delhi Capitals have been a part of the Indian Premier League since the 2008 season, but they are yet to win a championship. It will be interesting to see if Rovman could help DC end their championship drought by helping them win their maiden title in the 2022 edition of the league.
