There is only one question in the mind of cricket fans now – When will IPL 2021 resume? The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League began on April 9, 2021 in Chennai. The Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Mumbai Indians by two wickets in a nail-biting clash. After that, the BCCI successfully conducted 28 more league games.

There were many entertaining moments in the first half of IPL 2021. When the BCCI informed that they will have to suspend the season, but will resume the tournament, Delhi Capitals were number one. It is pertinent to note Rishabh Pant was leading an IPL team for the first time. Still, his team was at the top.

The Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore followed the Delhi Capitals, whereas two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians were in the fourth position. The bottom four comprised the Rajasthan Royals, the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Punjab Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

BCCI had to suspend IPL 2021 indefinitely on May 4. The reason behind this move was the multiple Coronavirus cases in the bio-secure bubbles prepared for the tournament. Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier, Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha were the players who tested positive. Besides, some members of the CSK coaching staff also returned positive. Hence, BCCI postponed IPL 2021, with an aim that it will resume soon.

According to reports, BCCI is looking at a September window to conduct the remaining IPL matches. The Indian cricket team will be off to the UK soon. They will play the ICC World Test Championship Final against New Zealand team. Next, they will play five Test matches versus Joe Root’s England team.

The schedule of the six Tests is out. The last Test match between England and India will end on 14 September, 2021. So, before that, there is no the chance that IPL 2021 resumes. After that, BCCI will have approximately 30-day gap for the ICC T20 World Cup. So, there is a small window available in September.

The English counties and Sri Lanka Cricket have made proposals to host IPL 2021. Meanwhile, UAE is another option for the matches. In case the September window does not work out, then maybe IPL 2021 will resume in November. India has a tour of South Africa in December-January.
