He has been in action since February 2023, when the Indian board sacked Chetan Sharma from the position. He was sacked from his post after an exclusive sting operation where he revealed some confidential details about the Indian team and players, which led to the board firing him from the post.

Apart from the interim chief selector, Salil Ankola (West), Subroto Banerjee (Central), and S. Sharath (South) are also part of the current selection committee. According to the application criteria, there are certain things that the applicants should take care of.

However, the applicant should have retired five years before the date of the application. Any former cricketer who retired recently can’t apply for the posts. Furthermore, those who have already served India as a member of the selection committee for a period of five years are not eligible to apply for the available post.

The applications will be accepted until 30th June (Friday), 6 p.m. Once the applications are shortlisted, all the applicants will get an interview scheduled with the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). It will be a big decision for the Indian Board to pick the right candidate because the next selection committee will have a big responsibility to pick the Indian squad for the Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
