Former Australian cricket team batter Matthew Hayden has expressed his unhappiness over the fact that senior players like Pat Cummins, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood have decided against playing in the white-ball matches of the Pakistan tour. The Australian cricket team will soon start a tour of Pakistan and play three Test matches, three ODIs and one-off T20I.

While the Australian selectors have named a full-strength squad for the ICC World Test Championship series, some of the senior players like Pat Cummins, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood have decided to rest during the white-ball games against the Pakistan men’s cricket team.

Matthew Hayden was not satisfied with the way the Australian cricketers were skipping the opportunity to represent the national team. He said that they should not be paid for the job that they don’t do.

“If you are unavailable to play for Australia there has to be some accountability. You shouldn’t be paid for work you don’t do and should have to salary sacrifice,” Hayden was quoted as saying by The Australian.

It is a massive flag of concern for your high performance set-up: Matthew Hayden

Many members of the cricket universe would know that Pat Cummins, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood are scheduled to play in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League scheduled to begin from March 26. The Australian stars will join the league after April 6. Here’s what Matthew Hayden had to say about the players not playing for Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series against Pakistan:

“When players are choosing not to play for their country it is a massive flag of concern for your high performance set-up. You shouldn’t be able to cherry pick when you want to play for Australia. It does not make any sense to me,” said Hayden.
