Without a doubt, Yuvraj Singh was one of the biggest match-winners that India produced in the previous generation. He won many games for India on his own in his prime when things looked difficult. He was one of the reasons that India won the 2011 World Cup under MS Dhoni.

Yuvraj won Player of the Tournament for his all-round performance. He made 362 runs in 8 innings and also took 15 wickets with the ball. It won’t be wrong to say that there is no player matching his caliber in the current Indian middle order.

He made No. 4 his own, which gave solidity to the Indian team. With the 2023 ODI World Cup coming up, India has a great chance to get their hands on the trophy. They will host the tournament, and players are aware of the home conditions. However, former Indian star Yuvraj Singh highlights an area of concern for the Indian team.

Team India hasn’t won any major ICC tournaments in the last decade. MS Dhoni led the country to the 2013 Champions Trophy win. It was the last time they won an ICC event. The trophy drought is increasing with every tournament, and Yuvraj feels that India’s chances in the coming tournament are very low.

In an interaction on the YouTube channel Cricket Basu, Yuvraj said that, as an Indian, he wants India to win, but there are a lot of concerns in the team. He highlighted the weak middle order because of consistent injuries. Notably, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant are injured.

As a result, India has tried Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, but they haven’t done well in ODIs. This, according to Yuvraj, is the biggest concern. He said, “I can be a patriot and say ‘India will win. ‘But I see a lot of concerns in the Indian middle order because of injuries. If those concerns are not resolved, we will struggle, especially in pressure games.”

He stated that someone from the Indian management needs to work on the middle order, which is struggling at the moment. Yuvraj concluded that India needs to somehow prepare the middle order because if the openers are gone in big matches, there should be players who can take the game deep and score when required.
