10 players who have played for both CSK and KXIP in IPL

The Chennai Super Kings and the Kings XI Punjab have been an integral part of the Indian Premier League since 2008. The two teams had played their first-ever IPL game against each other, where the Super Kings prevailed over the Kings XI. There is one same word in the names of the two teams, and apart from that, they have also shared some common players in the last 12 years of the Indian Premier League.

Here are the 10 players who donned the CSK and KXIP jerseys in the IPL.

1.Lakshmipathy Balaji

One of the best Indian right-arm medium pacers to have played in the IPL, Lakshmipathy Balaji started his IPL career with CSK. He played 29 games for CSK, where he picked up 31 wickets, including two four-wicket hauls.

Later, he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Kings XI Punjab. Speaking of his performance for KXIP, Balaji picked up 12 wickets in nine matches for the team. Currently, he is the bowling coach of CSK.

2.Ankit Rajpoot

Very few fans might know that Ankit Rajpoot had kicked off his IPL career at the Chennai Super Kings. Rajpoot played a couple of matches for CSK, where he scalped one wicket.

Like Balaji, he played for KXIP and KKR later in his year. He achieved the most success at KXIP as Rajpoot scalped 14 wickets in 12 matches, with best figures of 5/14.

3.Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin was an asset for the Chennai Super Kings until the 2015 season. The off-spinner represented CSK in 97 games and picked up 90 wickets.

After a brief stint with the Rising Pune Supergiant, Ashwin became the new KXIP skipper. He played two seasons for the Mohali-based franchise, picking up 25 wickets.

4.David Hussey

Australian all-rounder David Hussey played for three IPL franchises in his career. He started with the Kolkata Knight Riders, and then played for the Kings XI Punjab and the Chennai Super Kings.

He played only five matches for CSK, where he scored 116 runs and picked up two wickets. For KXIP, Hussey aggregated 695 runs in 34 innings, besides dismissing four opposition batsmen.

5.Sam Curran

English all-rounder Sam Curran is an upcoming talent, but he has already represented two top IPL franchises. He played for KXIP last year, where he picked up ten wickets and scored 95 runs.

Curran has already matched his last season’s numbers at CSK this year. The southpaw has scored 99 runs and dismissed ten batsmen in IPL 2020 so far.

6.George Bailey

George Bailey had a similarity like Ravichandran Ashwin. He started his IPL journey playing for the Chennai Super Kings and later became KXIP skipper.

Bailey played three innings for CSK, aggregating 63 runs at an average of 21. For KXIP, he scored 516 runs at a strike rate of 135.79 in 29 innings.

7.Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla is another player who has played for the Chennai Super Kings, the Kings XI Punjab, and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Chawla recently joined Chennai for IPL 2020.

He had played the initial few seasons for KXIP. The right-arm leggie played 70 matches for the Punjab team, where he picked up 84 wickets at an economy rate of 7.52.

8.Manpreet Gony

Manpreet Gony played for four teams in his career, namely the Chennai Super Kings, the Kings XI Punjab, the Gujarat Lions, and the Deccan Chargers. Gony picked up 23 wickets in 26 matches for CSK.

At KXIP, his performances dipped a lot as he could pick up only seven wickets in eight games. Most importantly, his economy rate increased to 9.14.

9.Shardul Thakur

Another Chennai Super Kings player who once played for the Kings XI Punjab is Shardul Thakur. The right-arm pacer got only one chance to play for KXIP, where he returned with figures of 1/38.

His career changed after moving to the Rising Pune Supergiant. Thakur is now playing for CSK and has dismissed 33 batsmen in 29 matches for them.

10.Mohit Sharma

The last name to feature on this list is Mohit Sharma. The right-arm medium fast bowler won the Purple Cap award when he was a part of the Chennai Super Kings team.

He moved to KXIP when CSK was temporarily suspended. In 37 matches for Punjab, Mohit picked up 33 wickets at an economy rate of 9.20.
