Mumbai Indians suffered their fifth defeat of IPL 2024 last night against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. It was their fifth loss in eight matches, and now they find themselves in a virtual do-or-die situation because another defeat can perhaps put a huge question mark over their qualification chances.
Captain Hardik Pandya and coach Mark Boucher have struggled to get their combination right. It is rare to see a champion team like Mumbai Indians make so many changes, but they have made too many alterations to their side. Despite the changes, the team’s final XI has not settled yet.
In this listicle now, we will look at the two changes which Mumbai Indians should make for their next IPL 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals.
1. Naman Dhir in for Tim David
For some reason, Mumbai Indians have not shown enough faith in Tim David’s skills this year. The Australian hard-hitter has often been shielded and demoted in the batting order, which must have hurt his confidence. He hasn’t done well as a fielder for MI also.
Perhaps, Mumbai should give another opportunity to Naman Dhir, who started well against Gujarat Titans. MI can try him out as a finisher instead of David or even use him in the top-order, pushing Hardik Pandya down by one spot.
2. Romario Shepherd in for Nuwan Thushara
It was slightly confusing to see Mumbai Indians leave out Romario Shepherd, who won the Man of the Match award in the previous battle against the Delhi Capitals. Considering that MI’s next match is against DC as well, they should think of bringing Shepherd back into the side for Nuwan Thushara.
