Lanka Premier League 2023 started earlier this month in Sri Lanka. Five teams, namely the Galle Titans, Dambulla Aura, Jaffna Kings, Colombo Strikers and B-Love Kandy are a part of this year’s tournament. Some big names of world cricket are playing in this edition of the Lanka Premier League.
As the name suggests, the Lanka Premier League 2023 is the number one T20 league of Sri Lanka, where the playing XIs of the franchises consist of a majority of players from Sri Lanka. The other players are from different parts of the world. A lot of Pakistan players have made themselves available for this year’s Lanka Premier League.
Bangladesh and Afghanistan players are also playing in LPL, keeping the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in mind. Interestingly, a couple of Chennai Super Kings players, who won the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League earlier this year in Ahmedabad are also playing in Lanka Premier League. 1. Maheesh Theekshana is playing in Lanka Premier League 2023
Chennai Super Kings’ off-spin bowler Maheesh Theekshana is one of the best players in Sri Lanka right now. The spinner is a member of the Jaffna Kings squad in this year’s LPL season.
Theekshana has a great record in LPL. He has helped Jaffna become the champions in the past. He is playing under the captaincy of Thisara Perera now.
2. Matheesha Pathirana
Chennai Super Kings roped in Matheesha Pathirana as a replacement signing last year. He was retained for IPL 2023, and the young fast bowler, who is nicknamed as Malinga Jr., played a match-winning role for the Chennai Super Kings. Pathirana is playing for the Colombo Strikers under Babar Azam’s captaincy.
